Pema Yoeling Monastery

Pema Yoeling Monastery (Tongzhang, Trashiyangtse)

Thrichu Gonpa
This monastery-cum-shedra (College for Buddhist Studies) is located in the holy valley of Thrichu Gonpa, Tongzhang under Tashi Yangtse district. It was a gomdey (monastery for lay Buddhist practitioners) headed by late Geshey Pekar until Rinpoche converted it into a sheydra in the year 2000.
The reconstruction of the three storied monastery began in 1997 and was completed in 2000. On completion, the monastery was consecrated by Rinpoche. During the consecration ceremony the newly-built statue of Guru Padmasambhava, to the amazement of everyone, grew by a foot. At present there are 35 monks and 20 gomchhens. Dil Khen Dorji Chang’s profound tersar is the main practice at this centre.
